Professor Brendan JR Whittle BPharm., PhD,
DSc
Brendan Whittle BPharm, PhD, DSc (director since 1996) is Professor
of Applied Pharmacology in Barts and The London Queen Mary’s
School of Medicine and Dentistry. He joined the William Harvey Research
Institute after some 20 years in the pharmaceutical industry, latterly
as a Director of Pharmacology.
His scientific research interests include inflammation and the
development of anti-inflammatory agents, with particular reference
to the gastrointestinal tract. The Institute of Scientific Information
has nominated him as one of the world’s 100 most-cited pharmacologists
based on his publications over the past 20 years and he has won
numerous prestigious scientific awards.
He is also involved in many aspects of research and development
of novel drugs in collaboration with a number of pharmaceutical
companies, and brings this expertise to the Company.
